Brandon Leftwich/YCFMEDIACORP |
Weekly Street Stock racing from Whynot Motorsports Park is never dull, as was the case again this past Saturday night. Kevin Spears drove from Alabama after his local track was rained out & stole the show in hisStreet Stock, but it was once again great action all over the racetrack.
In the heat races, #2 Jeffery Walker got into a tangle with the #21 of Chris Reeves, sending both cars to the pits for early repairs. Chris Reeves claimed it to be just a racing incident but at the Jeffery Walker, who has been really hot as of late seen things a little different right after the incident.
Brandon Leftwich's bad luck continued early as he broke a ball joint during his heat, but with a little help in the infield from some close friends, Brandon was able to set aside his string of bad luck for the rest of the evening.
Mike Hudler in the black #17 had a very strong night until eventual 2nd place finisher #111 Wayne Medders made some contact with Hudler in turn 2. Not sure if the contact was Wayne's fault or if Hudler slipped up the track, but it regulated Hudler to a not so great finish.
#777 Brandon Leftwich got his lucky break of the year as he piloted his race car in and out of traffic bringing his machine all the way from the rear to finish 3rd in his feature after a last lap collision in turn 4 with #21 Chris Reeves after Reeves drove into turn 4 to hard, sliding into the front right quarter panel of Leftwich's car. Brandon was able to straighten out and finish 3rd, which was a relief for the hard pressed driver. who had the refuse to lose attitude.
Kevin Spears took home the feature win, while Wayne Medders reclaimed the points lead after a no show by points leader #56 Dave Nations.
