Race fans & local competitors will have a lot to prepare for the next couple of months. It was officially announced the other day that the start of the 2014 race season for racers & fans at WHYNOT MOTORSPORTS PARK, the 3/8 mile high banked oval red dirt track located in southeastern Mississippi, will kick the this race season off with a HUGE Inaugural racing event MARCH 14th ( open practice ) & MARCH 15 ( race night).
What's being called the 1st Annual BATTLE OF THE STATES is special event directed toward the entertainment of race fans & the involvement of racers/teams from all over the region that race in the local weekly events, the CRATE LATE MODEL, STREET STOCK & UMP MODIFIED series.
The race promoters, including TRACK OWNER Rodney Wing & co-promoter Phillip Hathcock went outside the box with this event to provide an awesome fan drawing experience to the track known around the southeast as " THE ACTION TRACK OF THE SOUTH". This will include the KICKOFF of the 2nd Annual MISSISSIPPI STOCK SERIES, KMSA MINI STOCKS, the start of the weekly racing series in all 4 racing divisions plus, last but not least, topped off with a special FEATURE RACE that will involve the top 2 qualifiers from each represented state at this INAUGURAL EVENT.
"We wanted to put together a race that gave the competitors that show up & support our fan base & race track a chance to square off in a best of the best race", said Phillip Hathcock co-promoter & VP of track operations. It's very important to give back to the local fans & competitors that travel to enjoy the great racing found at this legendary facility.
"This year we want to start the season off with a BANG, similar to how we have concluded the year out the last 8 seasons with the FALL CLASSIC. Fans & racers have always been very supportive of the BIG EVENTS held at WHYNOT MOTORSPORTS PARK & this is just another way we can step it up a notch for them", stated track owner Rodney Wing after being asked the direction that brought forth this race.
Racers from the TOP 4 divisions, CRATE LATE MODEL, STREET STOCKS MINI STOCKS & UMP MODIFIED will have their qualifying times locked in for a "after the Feature race" chance to face divisional competition in a "WINNER TAKES ALL" BATTLE OF THE STATES RACE. ( look below for layout)
