Landon Hembree sweeps the night in Red Dirt Fashion
Landon Hembree, driving the neon green & black #04, waisted no time getting back to the success that brought him a Pure Stock Championship in the 2012 season.
After not racing the first race of the season, Landon came back Saturday night to stake his claim as a contender once again as he swept the heat and the feature. Landon's Hollywood built car dominated in natural fashion as one of the young guns of Whynot was once again able to hold off the rest of the field and bring home a victory for the Whynot based team.
Bryant Reynolds, going for his 2nd win of the season, had to make a transmission change after the first race of the season and spent most of Saturday night testing the strength of his new 3 speed transmission. Bryant was still able to bring his #4 Clarkdale Superette machine to a 2nd place finish and was able to hold his spot in the season points lead over #40 David Franklin of Toomsuba Ms.
David Franklin finished 3rd in the Pure Stock feature. David was the 2011 Mini Stock Champion at Whynot Motorsports Park and is no stranger to victory lane. His consistency could pay off this year as he has finished 2nd and now 3rd in the 2013 features, keeping him 2nd in season points.
Several cars showed up Saturday night in the Pure Stock raising the car count from the previous race. Brett Etheridge showed off his # 11, which reminded us of the old paint scheme from the Junior Johnson days, blasted in a primary Budweiser red and outlined in white. Etheridge ran well before fading off in the feature and fans really hope to see him step up the competition in a series that is in need off some new rivalries.
